A mass of Christian burial for Daniel James Finnerty, 39, will be held Monday, Dec. 12, 2007, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Hawthorne, Nev.He died Dec. 5, 2007, as a result of a car accident near Hawthorne, Nev. Dan was born in Pomona, Calif., Aug. 30, 1968. He attended Saint Laurence Grade School in Laramie. He graduated from Laramie High School where he participated in football and wrestling. He graduated from the University of Wyoming with a bachelor of science degree in psychology. He went on to earn his masters with honors from the University of Northern Colorado. Dan worked for the Fort Morgan, Colo., school district while attending graduate school. After graduation, he worked as a counselor for the Hawthorne, Nev., schools and was a wrestling coach for the youth program. He was a kind and gentle man who loved his work with children.
He is survived by his parents, Jim and Judy Finnerty of Jelm; brothers, Pat and wife and Joe of both of California; sisters, Becky and husband of Grand Junction, Colo., Jenny and husband of Laramie, Sara and husband of Las Vegas, Nev., Liz and husband of Arlington, Wash., and many aunts, uncles and cousins.He was preceded in death by his nephew, Dave Finnerty and his grandparents, Joe and Catherine Finnerty of Cheyenne, and Dave and Othrine Warne of Carson City, Nev.
